{"id":4205,"date":"2002-05-26T13:08:25","date_gmt":"2002-05-26T20:08:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.zariat.com\/home\/?p=4205"},"modified":"2012-11-24T01:11:30","modified_gmt":"2012-11-24T08:11:30","slug":"patinar-en-la-ciudad-de-panama","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.zariat.com\/home\/2002\/05\/26\/patinar-en-la-ciudad-de-panama\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Patinar&#8217; en la Ciudad de Panam\u00e1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I learned an important new word in Spanish recently, from the local kids in Panama City:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Patinar<\/strong> &#8211; (v.) to skateboard.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently it&#8217;s the same verb that is used for roller skating, but since roller skates are generally considered unfashionable these days, most people assume that if you&#8217;re going to <em>patinar<\/em>, you&#8217;re going to skateboard.<\/p>\n<p>It should be noted that the kids in Panama take skateboarding very, very seriously. I have seen some hard-core kids back in the States, but i&#8217;ve never seen anyone nail a broken skateboard back together and ride it again.
