When in Rome (For the First Time)
Italy, i have arrived!
Or, as Caesar said, Veni!
I just landed in the historic city of Rome for a short stop on my way to the upcoming Sonica festival.
My first interactive experience here was an attempted ripoff by a taxi driver. 200 Euros?!? I think not. No wonder he wanted to drop me off half a block from my destination – so hopefully nobody local would be around to intervene when i protested the ridiculous rate. Luckily, a guy popped around the corner just in time to intercept the attempted swindler… After a moment of yelling and mad gesticulation, the local guy told me to toss twenty Euros into the back of the cab and grab my bags.
Welcome to Italy.
I think i’m going to look into the local bus system.
